I Understand Why Harriet Carried A Gun

           Too often within the black community, we are left being demonized by our own people who have decided to wear the persona of the oppressor.  These individuals believe that they are exempt from the actions, thoughts, and hate that is given by said oppressors due to their consistent pandering. But are they? NEVER.  Let us use the ever-lasting case study that is Candice Owens.  Here is a woman that proudly proclaimed that racism does NOT exist within the confines of the United States but utilized the NAACP to sue racists that harassed her and she is currently seeking an apology from the head of a publishing firm due to...you guessed it...racism.  Now let us be clear, the company that was gracious enough to publish her latest exhibit of internalized racism did not d anything racist.  What are they guilty of? Apologizing for accidentally promoting the racist rhetoric of Mrs. Owens with their client base.

    I did not make any mistake in typing what is above.  A company had to apologize for accidentally promoting the internalized racism of a BLACK WOMAN to their core base.  Do not tell me that you have forgotten that black people can and will have internalized racism or utilize racism for their own gain/profit.  If you are one of the thousands of Owens sycophants, you may want to take a short ride through history to recall when she was on the right side of history.  She just gained the "awakening" that activism and anti-racism are not profitable.  Yet pandering for white acceptance is a gold mine that too many choose to dig from.  

     Do keep firmly in mind that digging from the gold mine does not provide you with acceptance nor does it keep one safe from the wrath and the path of racism.  It is no different than deciding to make a pet out of a tiger, its instinct will take over and you will become the lunch special of the day.  Think that I am exaggerating? Let us continue to utilize Candace as our primal example.  She was NOT invited to the last RNC because Daniel Cameron was the flavor of the month due to him refusing to provide justice for Breonna Taylor.  Shortly after that epic snuff, Candace took to Twitter to demand an apology as well as GOP support after being referred to as a racial slur by one of the white men that she sought validation from.  No one offered support, no apology was rendered.  

     The base that relies on for-profit reminded her that she is no more than their at-will servant.  Candace and others that have decided that white validation and white profit margins are far more imperative than the lives of their fellow BIPOC brethren are the dictionary definition of why Mother Tubman carried a gun.  All skin folk ain't kinfolk.  All melanin does not shine in the sun.  Keep this in mind as you journey through the streets of activism towards equity.  There will be black and brown people that will prefer to tear you down as opposed to assisting in the equity that they need themselves.
