History Continues to Repeat, Because it has YET to be Truly Learned

It pains me to watch the current climate of [online] activism after witnessing the past year.  Within the last 12 months, most activists have explained in detail of previous movements have been infiltrated and dismantled.  From J. Edgar Hoover and Robert Kennedy sending misleading "wiretaps" to Coretta Scott King trying to distance her from her husband to William O'Neal setting up Fred Hampton after the FBI deemed him a threat.  How many times must we allow ourselves to be setback due to [either] ego, fear, or lack of faith in leadership?

What I find the MOST frustrating about the current climate is that [social media] activists are negating their own strides at this moment.  They are falling prey to those that proclaim to have NEVER been a part of the "cause" yet are always lurking in the shadows, waiting and willing to enact pure havoc.  Rumors, gossip, and utter hate are clouding the pathway to equity and justice YET again and this "Love & Hip Hip" generation is gobbling it up faster than Big Momma's dinner on Sundays.  Why?  It is my theory that far too many view the movement as a trend for clout as opposed to what is NEEDED in order to protect and SAVE BIPOC LIVES.

Society is too conditioned to latch onto the catchy headline or become engulfed in drama (that isn't about them) that everything else is missed until the next hashtag surfaces.  Why must it take a DEATH for anyone to care?  Why does it take a TRAGEDY for focus to become restored?  I thought that the GOAL was PREVENTING anymore racism and oppression!!! I thought we no longer wanted to lose our brethren to the hands of the oppressor!!! I thought it was a requirement for equity and a NEW system that was inclusive of us all be established!!!

Maybe I am simply a dreamer.  Maybe I thought that the tireless hours that many of us have put into the [actual] work was for a unifying goal/cause.  As I turn left, right and look up and down... I am left to wonder, what was the motivation of self-proclaimed social justice warriors.  How are we in such a "woke" moment in time and allowing comatose spats to deter us from the ending that our ancestors shed blood for?

Harriet carried a gun for a reason and spoke very little on her journeys.  Yet, today's pseudo revolutionaries are too busy pounding their chest and protecting an image that they are groveling to the lows of the agents of white supremacy and fighting amongst their own.  When did we revert to middle school antics of "toss dirt on your name because too many are getting to know you and OUR fight"?  How does one in one breath say that they fear their sons/fathers/husbands/cousins/brothers leaving the house because they don't know if they will return.. take their next breath to tear down the very ones FIGHTING to ensure that ALL black and brown people make it home SAFELY without trauma?!

I used to get frustrated when I would hear people say or see people wear, "I am not my ancestors" as if we derived from a weak people. Now, I see why it so easily crossed their lips and graced their chests.  They are NOT our ancestors.  They are who would have given up our ancestors for an extra scrap from the trash heap.  They are who would try to convince our solemn kings and queens that bondage was our plight.  They are who would gossip about Sojourner, Harriet, Frederick, and Nate.

It is becoming more and more evident by the day that the faux educated, "facts over feelings", "me-search over research" flock, has never truly learned the history they regurgitate from soundbites and the true warriors of the cause.  It's about who can be brought down next...as opposed to who can we unify with in order to garner this NEEDED evolution.

In conclusion...the revolution may not be televised...be the de-evolution certainly is.  The more you divide, the more the colonizers "prove their point" and take yet another victory.
