You Are NOT Handmaids
I know that far too many [white] women are currently equating themselves to "The Handmaid's Tale". I also know that said women truly believe that they are [now] in the position of the handmaid, but this is due to them ignoring the book and attaching themselves to the tv series. It is imperative that they ignore the book as well as the history that the was book stolen. As usual, white women are ignoring the pleas, protests, history, and warnings of Black, Indigenous women of color in order to take the top trophy via the oppression Olympics.
I am sure that you have seen the countless social media posts of white women proclaiming that they are now second-class citizens with "fewer rights than statues". The level of tone-deafness is far from surprising, but expressly comical. How quickly do they forgo the fact that they traditionally and historically IGNORE our warnings and accounts of injustice? How swiftly have they been in pretending that what has happened to us, has never and [by default] would never happen to them? How convenient is it that they erase the history of their ancestors that consistently used the minds and bodies of Black women to gain further adjacency to the top tier of the hierarchy of the patriarchy?
Think back to the Summer of 2020, when droves of white women spoke up [negatively] about MMIW, BLM & Asian hat protests, and conversations. Recall the whataboutisms and requests for compliance that were made. Let us NOT forget how many wanted marginalized WOMEN [and men] to protest in manners that made them comfortable and did not distract from their social calendars or favorite sporting events.
Fast forward to today and the amount of our [formerly viewed as] ghetto and unnecessary protest methods and movements they are [rapidly] attempting to gentrify. From taking a knee during the National Anthem to proclaiming that "the next protest will be more intense than the last." What is worse (yet not surprising) are the demands of Black and Brown women's participation in this cosplay of revolt.
This new femme Anglo outrage is quite reminiscent of the suffrage movement. That notable time in US history when white women used the bodies, minds, and labor of black women to gain their right to vote while becoming angered that Black men gained the right before them. It causes me to remember how white women colonized Affirmative Action so that they could move forward and benefit from it far more than any other demographic. These are the notable times when it was "called" for ALL women to unite, simply for ONLY white women to benefit and forget that the rest of us are HUMAN.
For those that are preparing their keyboard warrior fingertips to disagree...tell me THREE times in US history where white women stood up for and protected NON-WHITE WOMEN. Also, share with the world the [true] focal point of the feminist movement within this nation.
Moreover, white women, you are not handmaids. You are the law-abiding, cheerleaders, coddlers, idea sharing coconspirators of the patriarchy. You have hated other women to the point that you have stricken your own foot. Once again, you have proven that white supremacy hurts YOU as well, yet you ignore that portion of history in order to uphold the facade of adjunct superiority.
It was YOU that stood by and patted your fathers, uncles, husbands, cousins, and sons on the back as they LIED about the US being a Christian NAtion. It was YOU that said it was just "locker room talk". It was YOU that voted AGAINST your best interest in hopes that some good "Christian GOP head" would pick you. It was YOU that Karen'd your way into a different category of woman. It was YOU that raised and praised the men that just forced you to become an incubator.
Maybe NOW you will be willing to have Critical Race Theory (CRT) taught so that FACTUAL history can be learned and no longer repeated. Maybe NOW you will take the plights of non-white women seriously and FINALLY recognize us as humans and no longer livestock forced into labor.
