I have always contended that ONE of the great injustices that the US did to itself was NOT prosecuting and PUNISHING the treasonous participants in the Confederacy. Ever since the collective of slave-dependent white men was allowed to grow old with family and friends; history has been able to be rewritten and infantilized. This has been to the detriment of any healing, forward motion, or the ceasing of the historic groundhog day that this nation has been stuck in. Throughout the country, there are far too many "patriots" that idolize the Confederacy and fantasize about recreating it in modern times.
This leads us to the infamous day known around the globe as "January 6".
The ever so annoying vocal [political] minority of the US decided that they needed to "take back the government for Trump." Yes, not for "state's rights", not for their personal gain...but for a drifting, underqualified politician that they believe is without fault. It took a handful of years riddled with lies that appealed to the undereducated that never felt heard or taken seriously for an attempted coup to occur.
After donating their life's savings to a plum-pigmented politician, the crowd of delusional residents decided that Trump's cries of a stolen election were the final Infinity Stone needed for clear and logical thought to be snapped out of existence.
We have learned that ELECTED OFFICIALS assisted in the attempted coup fueled by ego, racism, and Christian Nationalism. What we CAN NOT do now is continue to deliver leniency to those that participated in fascism on US soil. Let us NOT forget the coup attempt of Hitler and the result of the leniency that he received. Do we really want a hate-driven revolution to occur because ONCE AGAIN white supremacists within this country are left without consequences leading to the belief that they were in the right?
Blind racism as an excuse for an unfulfilled life is NO defense for trying to steal the freedoms of a nation for an egomaniac.
Those that are [eagerly] following the words of a failed reality tv idiot are the same ones that have lived their lives blaming anyone that did not look or live as they did for their lack of success; as opposed to working to improve their lot in life. The race of participation trophies while [simultaneously] idolizing their "heroic founding ancestors" enjoy a pastime of telling others to assimilate, work hard and improve their own lives sans assistance. They do this while blaming all others for their lack of wealth and a larger slice of the "American Dream".
This is why as the January 6 hearings uncover hard truths, staunch sycophants of the tangerine tyrant are accosting Capital police officers, politicians, fellow citizens as well as witnesses. They are inferring that everyone is lying except their lord...czar Trump, while also refusing to watch the hearings for themselves.
It is time for the US to FINALLY do something that is worthy of its people and history. Make an example of the treasonous goons that decided that their racism and delusional are far more important than the rights, liberties, and freedoms of the whole.
