It Wasn't the Delivery, It Was the Messenger
Recently, there was a Black female therapist (Shabree Rawls) that took to social media to inform Black men that they are in need of the expansion of their "emotional vocabulary" and THERAPY. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE ALL KNOW TO BE TRUE. The Black community has been fielding multiple conversations regarding this matter and pleading with Black men to heal themselves wholly. It baffles me that she was REMOVED from her position due to the Black community taking offense to her "delivery".
A fellow Black woman (Isheka N. Harrison) kicked off the firestorm with an article spotlighting the delivery of the therapist's message and the responses from [some] Black men. The people (most notably the men) that took issue with the NEEDED message proved the point of Rawls' point. The message was taken as condescending and disrespectful because she met the emotionally ignorant where they [currently] stand.
ALL OF THIS BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T LIKE THE DELIVERY!!!!!!
Yet it is the same people that will laugh and praise tv judges as they use the same tones and methods to get through the thick skulls of plaintiffs. The same people who enjoyed watching Kevin Samuels degrade and disrespect Black women for (online) popularity and profit. The same people will tell you that Andrew Tate speaks the truth and is only harsh to ensure that his message is taken seriously.
MISS US ALL WITH YOUR PATRIARCHAL BS!!!!!
What is comical throughout all of this, is the number of Black men that are defending their participation in this attack on a Black woman by quoting the suicide rates of Black men. Ummmmmmmmmmm SIRS, this is part of WHY she stated that you NEED therapy. You have healing to do!!!! You need to learn to remove yourself from the stronghold of white supremacist standards that are destroying you from the inside out. You KNOW that there is a CRITICAL issue, but just like the White men that you want adjacency to, you would rather play the victim and CONTINUE to blame Black women for YOUR woes.
Once again, it is protect Black "pick-mes" and no others. You want us to keep settling for struggle love, and pitiful treatment while being saddled with YOUR emotional baggage. You want us to build you up without ever using the proper tools. You want all of our labor, love, and learning as long as we are silent about your shortcomings. We are supposed to take on and accept ALL of your criticisms of us as if that will heal what ails you.
Black men, as much as I love you, for the love of the ancestors, be the "alpha-males" you proclaim to be and put on your big boy pants and fix your shit!!!!!!!!! We are NOT your mothers! We are NOT your big mommas! STOP ignoring the message because you have not emotionally matured to take the delivery that you give to others. You say that you are. the [rightful] leaders of the community, then lead yourself into the safe spaces of HEALING.
What are you accomplishing by watching your brethren [prematurely] join the ancestors? What are you accomplishing by continuing to HIDE your pain and woes? What is gained by lashing out at your cultural counterparts after demanding that we help you to help you?!
It is time to break generational [bad] habits, take accountability and join us on the pathway to healing and greatness.
