When Will the Attack on Black Women End?
Are there any safe spaces for Black women in this world? Do we have any allies or accomplices? Are we confined to the racial tropes that have plagued us since we were forced from our Motherlands? Why has it become our plot in life to be forsaken by EVERY demographic dwelling upon the earth?
We can NOT express emotions because we are either deemed aggressive or to be "faking it for attention". We can NOT desire respect, because struggling is all that is [prodminately] associated with us. We are expected to take on the emotional labor of EVERYONE while [simultaneously] expected to be subservient.
Even when someone steps from the shadows to offer us a glimmer of praise, we are told that we are NOT remarkable and that ALL WOMEN are [insert compliment here]. Generally, we are the bearers of blame while cosplayed more often than the Joker and Harley Quinn. Our cries go unheard and unanswered. Our pain is utterly ignored.
Yet we are told we need to be universal team players for the global community. Well, the global community, MINUS US.
When will we receive our safe spaces? How much longer until there is a cease-fire? In ONE month, a Black female therapist had her employment taken from her and her patients were left scrambling because her OWN COMMUNITY did NOT like her delivery OFF THE CLOCK. Her telling Black men to seek therapy was too much for a community that keeps complaining about the lack of emotional intelligence within Black men.
Delivery doesn't seem to be an issue as men of ALL races rudely [and ignorantly] bolster their online accounts by DEMANDING that Black women "bow down" and take accountability for all the ailments of men and themselves.
The only time anyone seems to take note and care about us is when we have been sent to our ancestors before being called upon. It takes the ULTIMATE SACRIFICE for grace, understanding, concern, and respect to be provided to us. Yes, there are exceptions to this (as with all things in life), but why isn't our norm equivalent to other races of women?
Who decided that we were to be the warrior sacrificial lambs of the earth?
Outside of merely existing, we have done NOTHING to garner the hate from within and outside of the house.
