Family for the Holidays
Tis the season when families PRETEND to like/love each other for photo ops and social media likes & clicks. Although we LOVE to say that there are 365 days in a year, in real life, we tend to only care about/reach out to (extended) family during the (winter) holiday season. All of a sudden everyone misses one another and wants to "reconnect". 😒 Every other day of the year, the only thing that is missed is an opportunity to gossip about one another. 😏
Keep the "not me" to yourself...cause YES you do this as well.
After spending the majority of the year declaring to all that will listen who you don't f*#k within your family and why...they suddenly pop up on your social media feed with heartwarming captions and promises of keeping in touch. I NEVER understand this "holiday tradition". Especially since you do NOT speak to them. There are NO gifts under the tree. As soon as they depart, you begin a new round of gossip and critiques of their lives that you know NOTHING about. 😔
What is the point? Who are you trying to fool?
What is it about the holiday season that causes people to put on facades? Why is this the time of the year that lying increases exponentially? This time of the year heightens the competitiveness in people... ESPECIALLY when it comes to family. It's (sadly) amusing the lengths that are gone to to "prove" that one is better than...more successful than...holier than...prettier than another. 😑
What was the reason for the season again?
Isn't it ironic that most of the people that engage in this behavior spend most of their days proclaiming most things in life to be "of the devil" while using this "sacred" time of the year to act like lil demons on earth? 😂 I know that this is the time of year for "togetherness" but why choose to be together with people that you DO NOT LIKE on any other day? Why take togetherness to mean ONLY for Thanksgiving and Christmas? Is it to combat seasonal depression? Because if that is the case....do you realize that you are increasing depression every other time of the year? Who wants to be reminded that no one gives a damn about them for the holidays? Who wants to be reminded that no one remembers that they exist until the house is decorated and the kitchen is stocked with "holiday cheer"?
Moreover, if you can NOT be family ALL YEAR round, why choose to be family for the holidays?
