STOP Expecting UNCHECKED Anti-Black Women Behavior to Disappear

     

By now, everyone has been made aware of White woman extraordinaire, Aubrey Graham's LATEST attack on Black women.  What behooves me is...WHY ARE SO MANY SHOCKED?  Drake's views on Black women have gone (primarily) unchecked for YEARS.  He told us early into his career where we stood after gifting him the career that he has.

     Let me guess, you think that with the ending of that last sentence...I am reaching?

     Black men ORIGINALLY thought that Drakenstein was a whining, lame, simp that was not worth a look or listens.  It was NOT until his music became so popular amounts Black women that Black men couldn't avoid it hitting their ear canals.   But did ol Degrassi care that he rose from being lifted onto the backs of Black women? NOPE.  He was too busy fangirling over NBA stars, fumbling relationships with Black women, collaborating with men notorious for being VIOLENT towards Black women, and more.

      NEVER has he proven to be an ally to the Black woman.  

     if we are going to be completely honest, it seems like the new right of passage into manhood seems to be the displaying of disdain for and disrespect of Black women.  We get drug into conversations that have NOTHING to do with us as an example of wrong, bad, and what to avoid.  Those that do defend, protect and respect Black women are labeled as simps and criticized heavily.  Yet, when all other women are given the same.... crickets.

     Trolling Black women is profitable.  It's trendy. It's widely accepted.  

      Deciding to play shocked and appalled when a high profile individual REMINDS you that they are anti-Black woman is as performative as the tales of checking a racist at Thanksgiving dinner.  You sit silently every other time that a Black woman experiences colorism and is told that she resembles a man, told that she is violent, told that she will never be desirable (yet sexualized from birth).  We receive a modicum of compassion when attacked by another Black woman or during a time of personal crisis.

     We KNOW that we must protect ourselves from EVERYONE else.

     With that being said, PLEASE explain to me why you are expecting something that is NOT properly addressed to dissipate?
