When Did Society Become so Gullible?

     

How did we go from, "don't believe everything that you hear" and "everything on the internet isn't real" to such an intense level of gullibility? When did it become so very easy to convince people to sever ties, believe in lizard people, and hand over their money "just because"? I am in utter shock at the number of ADULTS that regurgitate illogical, non plausible jargon loudly and proudly.  I would think that teens would be the ones so easily swayed and manipulated...BUT NOPE...it is the section of the population that votes, raises children, and has careers.

     We are DOOMED.

     When did it become FACT because it was placed on the internet via a meme? When did we stop fact-checking politicians and "talking heads" as they tour the airways? I am beyond befuddled as to how we have computers in our pockets, purses, bags, and hands and possess less brain activity and deductive reasoning.  These same people will fact-check a person in need requesting donations into the grave, but very little (if nothing) else.  

     There has been quite a bit of history unfolding before all of our eyes and there are people who have been convinced that their eyes lied to them.  NOT lying grifters.  NOT malicious politicians.  NOT clout chasing social media influencers.  THEIR EYES.  From a TELEVISED INSURRECTION to physical attacks on politicians and their spouses to voter intimidation (via drop boxes) conspiracy theories seem to be more convincing than FACTS and FOOTAGE.

     Debates are still occurring regarding whether or not the last presidential election was stolen.  There are politicians that believe that moon lasers cause forest fires.  Citizens think that celebrities are funneling children in under the White House to drink their blood for eternal youth.  We have leaped head-first into the worst sci-fi simulation ever created. 

     Will we ever be released from this strange stronghold?
