Why Make Excuses for the Sexualization of Children?

      Most recently it has been discovered that (luxury brand) Balenciaga has a bit of a history of leaving "Easter eggs" latent with pedophilia within their ad campaigns.  From the start of this discovery, there have been a slew of people making excuses for the campaigns and trying to gaslight us all as if we couldn't see the ads for ourselves.  

     It is far from surprising given that R Kelly continues to have sympathizers.

     What is frustrating is the pure, unadulterated hypocrisy that surrounds the sexualization of children.  Society will be quick to victim blame, excuse away or turn a blind eye to this disgusting occurrence to then proclaim to be horrified when victims surface.  Do people think that sexualization would be VOID of victims?

     The sexualization of children is yet another portion of the list of things that far too many believe talking about it and pointing it out is what fuels it.  😏

     Very few want to make themselves aware of how often it occurs and the trauma that it leads to.  Especially when the person doing such things is a (liked) family member, a favorite celebrity, or a (close) friend.  The "save the children" crowd speeds towards silence in record-breaking time so long as the victim isn't their child/family member.  Actually, there are times when their child is the victim and their tongues cease to function.

     It begs the question of WHY? Why are there subsets of society that are so willing to turn a blind eye to children being sexualized?  Are these individuals unaware of the grooming aspect of convincing children that this behavior is normal?  From child beauty pageants to school dress codes to fashion to entertainment, why is so easy to desensitize people to this pipeline to trauma? 

     Children should be able to just be kids.  Children NEVER need to be pawns for stimulation. Yet, here we are in the year 2022, and child pornography is being coupled with images of innocent (and unknowing) child models to sell overpriced garments and accessories.
