Since February when
Brittney Griner was first detained in Russia, a certain portion of the US population has been screaming, "oh well, their country, their rules." In the months to follow, they have added to their script, "don't do the crime..." It has now evolved into, "how do we leave a Marine for a pot-smoking basketball player?"
But when was the last time any of them recalled that Paul Whelan was imprisoned there?
I would gather very FEW due to the fact that they have elevated him to a war hero and saint that needs to be rescued. 😂 The EX-Marine CLERK wrote BAD checks, forged documents, and attempted to steal $10k while serving (as a reservist) in Iraq. 😏 The Canadian immigrant has TRIPLE citizenship and thought he could supplement his civilian income by cosplaying James Bond. An ASSOCIATE of HIS ensured that the spy game he wanted to play would be a short game. Whelen was on "their land" therefore shouldn't he have to abide by "their rules"? 😏. So many proclaim that his charges are "trumped up" but (even with previous cases to draw reference from) do NOT see how railroaded Griner was.
Once AGAIN, (many of) the citizens of the self-proclaimed 'Greatest Country" showed that they do NOT see Black women as human.
How dare the Biden administration NOT retrieve the former military clerk with a hobby of crime? But riddle me this, those of you now pretending to care about Whelan.... where is that energy for Ireland or Great Britain? You do KNOW that he is NOT exclusively a US citizen right? You do the bare bones of the person you are claiming has more value than a US CITIZEN? What happened to your patriotism?
Oh, that is correct... your patriotism is NEVER questioning those working against you and betraying you with every breath.
Because Griner stood up for the rights of the communities that she is a part of...you view her as unpatriotic. Although you enjoy the portions of history where White people were protesting and pushing back against governments for YOUR rights... those graced by the sun and not attacked by it should NOT do the same...right? Yet you tell those of us within the realm of the target of oppression that racism, etc. is no more. Is it really Sue Ellen?
Since the MURDER of George Floyd, the biggest talking point is that Black people (specifically) turned a criminal into a martyr. 😏 Yet we are not waterfalling our undercarriage for Ted Bundy & Jeffrey Dahmer. We aren't excusing away (Jan 6) terrorists. We don't honor a genocidal maniac annually with a federal holiday. We aren't turning a thieving, wanna-be spy into a war hero so the sake of White American pride. 😏
Therefore, I ask AGAIN... what happened to "their country, their rules?"
