Right on schedule, non-Black people are utilizing Black trauma and tragedy to climb the ladder of capitalism. No matter how nicely we ask that our trauma NOT become your "claim to fame", we are ignored and spoken over. We are bombarded with [disingenuous] requests for UNIY and LESS division at all other times. We KNOW that the request is no more than code for: do the labor, do NOT hold us accountable, and FORGET that you will consistently be voted against in the campaign of humanity.
UNITY should be born out of the tragedies you proclaim you are AGAINST and that you protest to eliminate...right?
Yet here is the Black community hurting AGAIN and as we must wade the waters of civil discourse for change...we are tasked with shielding one another from the uptick in racist verbal grenades tossed at us online. We can NEVER simply breathe. We NEVER are permitted to grieve. We are expected to have the strength and mental stability of the GODS. We are expected to be more forgiving than the Christian God. We are expected to protect those that hunt us for entertainment.
Why? Why are we tasked with correcting the behavior, mindset, and systems created to keep us on the outside [barely] looking in?
Instead of trying to appropriate and monetize all things Black, show us WHY you have BLM in your bios and on your shirts. Show us that you are the descendants of those that did NOT sit back quietly and allow slavery, Jim Crow, and picnics. Where are the granddaughters of the "witches they couldn't kill"? Where are the 'Handmaid's Tale" cosplayers? Where are the "I'm not racist I have Black family (and/or friends)" folks? Where are the people who equate their impoverished upbringing and criminal history to being Black "so they can relate"? Why are you NOT using your Karen powers for police reform and more? Why are you more concerned about conning a business out of a drop in the bucket but NOT saving a single life?
Oh...that's right...saving lives isn't profitable. Cosplaying all things Black minus the actual struggles is bug business. 😏
