The Narrative Protects Their Image
They will call for thoughts and prayers FOR ALL involved and/or affected by the tragedy. They will place the best and most jovial photos that they can gather of the MURDERER. His troubles with depression will be the center of the conversation...because why focus on the overt premeditation of it all...let's blame mental health. His family and friends will proclaim that he was such a sweet soul and a popular athlete.
Did you forget that in this country, cis-gendered straight white men are absolved and protected from accountability?
His good ol southern family raised a popular boy that doesn't know about guns and would never hurt anyone..until he did. The media will ignore the FACT that he blatantly posted about his murderous fantasies on social media (Instagram). It will be looked over that a voicemail was left by him stating what he was planning to do. The letter left behind for roommates (yet again) stating what he planned to do will be touted as his last good deed. 😏 Even in death his image will be allowed NOT to grow up while Black & Brown chid are forced to NEVER have a childhood.
This narrative will have you saying his name more than those of the victims while pretending to discuss mental health within the land.
What will this result in? Additional IGNORING of much-needed legislation. STOP arguing over the narrative that you KNOW is on the way. STOP losing focus on the actual goal. If you do NOT know by now in 2023 that white people will protect the good white folks that remind them of their favorite child, nephew, friend, etc....I have no lessons left for you. The narratives will change as well as the coverage when YOU finally remind them that WE are the PEOPLE and WE pay them to serve us. When WE finally force them to adhere to the job descriptions WE bestowed upon them.
