Over the weekend a submersible containing a handful of wealthy individuals went missing in the Atlantic Ocean. For $250k EACH, these individuals made the conscious decision to travel to the wreckage of the Titanic in an unregulated
vessel operated by a
gaming controller and sealed from the exterior. 😏
The irony of the rich visiting opulence that led to death simply to become lost... is NOT lost upon me.
Many years ago, I learned that "old money" will spend money (easily) on things that make absolutely no sense and this fits the mindset perfectly. They paid more than most citizens make in a year to squeeze together in a hodge podge UNREGULATED submarine to view the Titanic through a MONITOR. Take a moment to think about the fact that the wealthy are only against deregulation for increased profitability and have no regard for the safety of anyone (including themselves). With all of the net worth within the submersible, there wasn't enough cranial fortitude to realize that they paid for the most extensible 8-hour tour providing nothing more than YouTube video entertainment.
At this point, I am wondering if a tragic remake of Gilligan's Island was the goal.
Additionally, who in their RIGHT mind would trust a telecommunications system from an Elon Musk-owned company? Who looks at the below lego built
piecemeal construction of this pseudo submarine and thought, "This is safe and a grand idea"? These are the same category of people that won't trust public transportation or certain people to groom their pets that decided that a 'Little Rascals' level underwater tube was the best way to spend 8 hours on a Sunday. Keep in mind there is NOT a second vessel, the weather conditions appear to have been ignored. This is an experimental prototype void of pingers that is NOT registered (or certified) for the carrying of passengers. 😏 Profit was the goal...NOT safety.
Now guess how much manpower and tax dollars are being shelled out to find the DIY project of a bored billionaire?
I know there will be no complaints regarding the US AND Canadian Coast Guard searching as well as pilots, etc. NOOOOOPPPPPPEEEEEE. It's because far too many idolize the wealthy and see themselves as billionaires whose bank accounts will one day prove them as such. CHILDREN can be denied lunch at school because "not my tax dollars" and "socialism is evil".... but save the dumb dumb silver-spoon people at all costs. How on par with Merica. 😏
Are we FINALLY ready to CEASE with the coveting and idolizing of generational wealth recipients? Have we NOT learned anything from Musk, Trump, RFK Jr, and more? Having a large net worth does NOT equate to heightened intelligence. You are NOT going to wake up tomorrow and find yourself sitting at the table with people who have never and will never know the cost of a loaf of bread. You can work thousands of hours for a company...you will never exceed their worth. You are more replaceable to them than the batteries of a tv remote. They are so out of touch that they spend small fortunes on a torturous way to expire.
