Today, SCOTUS offered a blow to
Affirmative Action adding to the increasing list of actions leading to the unpaving of the road toward equity. The conservative and
Christian Nationalist goal of rolling the US back into the era of
Jim Crow is chugging right along before our eyes. Each time the vehicle of equity is reversed, there is an outpouring of liberals and leftists that flood us with think pieces and calls to action.
You were WARNED. Once the tree has been chopped, it is too late. 😏
Additionally, they aren't calling for unified labor to be enacted... they are calling for the labor of the melanated to fix what they have allowed to become broken. Historically it has NOT been beneficial to anyone that is NOT straight, white, cis, (pseudo) Christian, and MALE to continue to wait for others to take on the "good fight". Trickle-down applies to the squashing of freedoms and the denial of equity. Proximity to white male privilege has NEVER been a [whole] shield from the consequences of silence and/or compliance.
Those in power (actively working to increase it) will sacrifice everyone beneath them. Therefore, thinking that their rhetoric and actions will bypass you is more delusional than believing Trump is the new messiah. 💅
Currently, the powers that be have moved on from merely cementing over community pools to prevent sharing them with non-white bodies and ultimately punishing their brethren as well. They are removing bodily autonomy, parents' ability to raise their families according to their beliefs, citizens' ability to receive representation that matches their taxation and so much more. NO ONE outside of the 1% AND MALE is void of the consequences of these actions. Have you made the conscious decision to IGNORE what is currently happening to the carriers of uteruses due to the overturning of Roe v Wade? Has it been voided from memory the war being waged on education across the land? How do you think this will fair long and short term?
As a nation, how are we to compare and compete with the globe if we continue to downgrade our population?
We tend to focus on the treatment of Black people during the time of
Jim Crow, ignoring that others suffered as well. White women...you were treated as property by your counterparts as well...why do you think there is currently a push for the return of "traditional women" whose singular goal was intended to be wedded servants? Choosing to comfortably place your head in the sand and ASSUME that Black women (predominately) will fight to save you just for you to reemerge and other yourself... will NOT work this time around. FINALLY, stand up and save yourself and your lineage.
