The Age Old Dog Whistle: Small Town USA
Yet again, there has been an anthem of racism birthed and the good ol boys are working overtime to defend it with....wait for it...you guessed it...RACISM. With Sundown Towns STILL existing and non-white people living in these time capsules of Americana, racists are fervently trying to gaslight the rest of us that dog whistles have lost their discriminatory twang. 😏 The new narrative is that small-town living simply denotes an ultimate setting of unified community and no lawlessness.
At least they are consistent in their whitewashing rewrites of history...even as it unfolds.
This is far from shocking to anyone...what seems to be boggling the minds of many are the confirmations of the new narrative that have been kissed by the sun. We must keep in mind that when raised within the vacuum of vintage ideologies, you are indoctrinated to believe that how you are viewed/treated/expected to be is normal. You are convinced that you are a part of the community...during business hours when your labor is warranted. These are people that lack any true community and have latched onto what they are provided with as a method of NOT feeling [completely] alone in the world. They are defending racism due to a combination of Stockholm Syndrome and internalized racism.
This is one of the greatest exports of small towns, especially regarding biracial individuals.
Now moving onto the main demographic that idolizes either small-town life or suburban life. They have an emotional connection to the new anthem for their fear-fueled hate due to it illustrating precisely how they run their "communities". This is why their self-proclaimed intellect causes them to vehemently attempt to gaslight the rest of us into believing that their psalm of white supremacy contains no mention of bigotry, etc. 😏 They appreciate the dog whistles. They are reveling in an anthem informing who they find undesirable not to venture into their slice of the Americana pie. Think that I am reaching? Look at how they are defending their latest poster boy of prejudice...they are utilizing [overt] RACISM.
Let us play white supremacist advocate for a moment. Let us PRETEND that the song is NOT an anthem of racism...its fans are showing themselves to be racist. With that, when are supremacists superfans for anything that is NOT dripping in racism and its ideologies?
