Tokens are for Arcades NOT Our Fight for Justice

      President Joe Biden has decided that Mamie Till-Mobley and Emmett Till should be honored with a monument. Given that there RECENTLY had to be an upgrade to the marker denoting where Emmett lost his life due to racists shooting at it (as a tradition) this is the most tone-deaf idea of the Biden residency in the White House.  If honoring the Till family was truly the goal why were they NOT honored with the ARREST and CONVICTION of Carolyn Bryant?

     A trio of monuments placed at locations that "tell the story of Emmett Till" is NOT equal to the justice

that should have been the final chapter of his biography.  The 82nd anniversary of his birth should have been a time of celebrating a conviction for [at least] ONE of those responsible for him not walking into adulthood. An innocent CHILD has been condemned to a legacy riddled with injustice, disrespect, and a continuation of the American way of protecting the default damsel in distress.  😏

Let us NOT be blinded to the fact that the mere announcement of the monuments has caused racists to (yet again) rewrite history to proclaim that Till was guilty of the LIE that led to his MURDER.

   

 During a time when racists have been gifted a new anthem, they still made time to melt in the summer sun due to monuments honoring the BRUTAL KILLING of a CHILD will have protection.  This means that they will NOT be able to deface in any manner.  That is what is truly not sitting well with them.  They will fight any amount of respect being afforded to Black people.  Their sense of community and solidarity only surfaces when combatting anyone that does not appear in the image of their reflection.  These are the same good ol boys and gals that claim to be "super saints" that want nothing more than to protect the children.

NOT the children of those that are not required to dodge the sun as a survival mechanism though. 💅

     They have not and still do NOT see our children as HUMAN.  Even when the honorable Mrs. Till-Mobley held an OPEN CASKET, PUBLIC memorial service for her beloved child, they showed little to no compassion for his lifeline being [jaggedly] cut short.  Yet these are the same pro-life proselytizers that have a kink for "reminding" Black people how many POTENTIAL members of our community are "lost" to abortions.  😏 The SAME people are so upset about statues and monuments that negate paying homage to traitors, slave owners, and white supremacists.  

With that [all] being said, are we ready to STOP accepting participation tokens in place of justice and equity?

   

 Instead of consistently trying to rally and explain ourselves and others into agreement over the scraps of a nation we created...it is far past time to DEMAND what is owed to us.  The bare basic minimum is RESPECT as equal HUMANS contributing to society.  Transform your hot takes and think pieces into activism, legislation, and actual change.  The change we study and read about.  The change we [direly] need today.
