FINALLY, the truth behind
"The Blind Side", the fictitious whitewashed tale of [retired] NFL player Micheal Oher has come to the forefront. Since the book and [subsequent] movie appeared, Oher has opposed it for its highly revisioned depiction of his life's path towards success. The Tuohy family decided to capitalize off the hard work that Oher had put in, HIMSELF, as a measure of [further] securing generational wealth.
Sound familiar? It should remind you of the mindset that encapsulated the capitalism of the United States within the perpetual realm of (chattel) slavery.
The Tuohys decided to LIE to Oher and
give the impression that he was being adopted. In reality, he was being placed into a
conservatorship. Oher was already on track to be provided with a collegiate scholarship and was already overcoming the situation that he had been tossed into. The (already) wealthy southern white family saw the FINANCIAL potential that Micheal Oher possessed and made a diabolical decision to profit from his body and labor.
Therefore, in an attempt to decrease the chances of Oher removing their ownership of his wages, they began to "make the rounds" selling the tale of how they saved the monetary beast from tropes and stereotypes.
Most people with melanin realized that the tale that society was white-washed fanfiction. Drug-addicted mother... homeless...not accustomed to having even basic necessities until a Christian white family comes along. 😏 They took the entire white supremacy checklist for Black people and packaged it as a new-aged "why we need slavery" pamphlet. Before you convince yourself that I am reaching... think back to the rationale that was used to enforce slavery. One of the greatest pro-slavery taglines was that Black people NEEDED to be controlled for our better good. 😡
Oher was NEVER nothing more than 3/5 of a person and a perpetual investment option.
The current shock and aww that the Tuohys would take ownership of a Black man is laughable. Have we decided to collectively forget the history of the US as well as the FACT that Brittney Spears' own family turned her into a profit machine? Greed will cause people to no longer see others as humans, especially people that are not obligated to dodge the sun. 😏
This is yet ANOTHER example of society IGNORING the pleas and POVs of Black people.
Oher has been quite vocal regarding his life story and more
being hijacked by a FAMILY of greed-ridded individuals. No one listened. People merely gushed over the "good deeds" of the white faces that were paraded in front of them. They flocked to bookstores and movie theatres for the feel-good movie brimming with racial tropes and saviorism. Their warm, fuzzy feelings were nothing more than an homage to the days that [current] conservatives want to revert us to....the ownership of all things NOT white.
